Reading Notes Week 12: More Jataka Tales A
I decided to write notes over my favorite Jataka that I came across. I also felt like I would be able to write a creative story based off of this Jataka.
The Turtle Who Couldn't Stop Talking
Main Characters: Turtle, Two Young Geese, Village Child
Plot: Two young geese had frequented a pond in which the turtle lived. Over time, they became great friends. One day, the geese asked the turtle if they wanted to return to their beautiful home with them. However, the turtle did not know how this would work because he could not fly. The geese grabbed a stick and told him to not talk until they landed. A small child in the village noticed the geese fly over head with the turtle and shouted to the crowds at what he saw. "Have you ever seen anything so ridiculous?" The turtle heard this and yelled back, feeling attacked. As he yelled, he fell from the sky. The geese commented on how the turtle should have kept his mouth shut.
