Reading Notes Week 11: Jataka Tales A

This was my favorite story from set A of Jataka Tales for Week 11. I felt like the underlying message of the tale is one that is important. Along with that, I felt like I could potentially write a good story around the central message.

The Penny-Wise Monkey
Characters: Monkey, King, army of soldiers, horses
Plot: A King of a very large and wealthy country traveled to a small country far away with his army of soldiers. While camping in the forrest, they fed the horses peas. Seeing the horses being fed, a monkey ran up and jumped to steal some peas away from the horses. The monkey then climbed back up to his tree and began eating the peas. All of a sudden, he dropped a pea on the ground. As he ran down the tree to fetch the one pea, he lost hold of all the other peas he had collected. The king had seen all of this happened and realized that the monkey lost a lot to gain a little, which paralleled to how the king left a plentiful country, and he returned.
